Production of objects with 3D printing

Meccanica Tecnica is extremely advanced in the field of precision mechanics. With an experience of over 30 years, we are now able to deal at high levels with the production of objects of design, using advanced 3D printing technology.

Metal, plastic and resin are the materials that we can use and from which we shape prototypes and small series.

Metal

Today, metal 3D printing has become a major player in the prototyping and manufacturing of industrial parts. This additive technology is particularly valuable for creating functional components of the highest quality and precise detail. We invite you to read more about the metalworking revolution with 3D printing technology.

Plastics

Using additive 3D printing technology, our staff can process a wide range of plastic materials. Modern technology allows us to create plastic components and prototypes that are as strong and efficient as those made from metal. The additive manufacturing technique and the speed of our machines allow us to deliver the product to the customer on time.

Resin

Stereolithographic printing (SLA) offers the ability to create ultra-high precision prototypes and components. Also known as in-tank photopolymerization, printers use a light source to polymerize liquid resin into hard plastic. At Meccanica Tecnica, we use a fleet of excellent machines and the best CAD/CAM software for 3D design of models to be made according to customer drawings.

Prototypes and small series

In the field of precision mechanics, prototypes and small series are essential to allow the execution of some fundamental phases for the correct production of large-scale components. Starting from a drawing and subsequently modelling each piece in three-dimensional form with precision software, we are able to guarantee the customer a unique piece with all the physical and mechanical characteristics.

Key reasons to choose 3D printing

By successively adding layer upon layer of material, 3D printing can create real objects and industrial components that are extremely detailed and accurate.

The benefits of this cutting-edge methodology can be summarized as follows:

  • Speed of execution: the speed with which parts are built far exceeds the regimes of traditional techniques, such as CNC milling. Whether it’s simple, routine finishes or particularly complex geometries, additive printing operates at optimum levels within a matter of hours. As a result, production times are significantly reduced, resulting in increased productivity.
  • Multiple products in a single step: producing in a single processing step is certainly one of the main goals to be achieved. Traditional techniques require multiple steps to make a single component and it can affect quality. 3D printing produces in a single step by sending a CAD model file to the printer.
  • Customization and Creative Freedom: The creative limitations imposed by traditional methods do not apply to 3D printing. For example, complexity of the part is variable that does not affect the proper printing process, as products are made one layer of material after another. In addition, each creation can be completely customized, and there is the possibility of being able to process even a single part, without having to resort to a quantity-based workflow.

FAQ on 3D printing

What materials do you use for 3D printing?

Thanks to next-generation 3D printers, Meccanica Tecnica is able to print using metal, plastic, resin and stainless steel. Each project is evaluated individually to offer the most suitable solution based on the application type, required mechanical strength and desired surface finish. Take a look at our completed projects on the dedicated page!

Can you produce small production runs?

Absolutely. Our third-party 3D printing service is ideal both for customers who need functional prototypes and for those requiring small industrial production runs. Would you like to request a custom quote? Don’t hesitate to contact us.

What tolerances can be achieved with 3D printing?

Dimensional tolerances always depend on the material and the geometry of the component to be created, but our 3D printers ensure very high precision. Additionally, if the project requires extremely tight tolerances, we can integrate post‑printing processes such as precision grinding.

How long does it take to print a component or an object?

On average, we deliver within a few working days. However, lead times may vary depending on the project’s complexity, the chosen material and the requested quantity. We always indicate the timeline during the quotation stage, and we are committed to always delivering on schedule.

What files are required to start a 3D printing project?

We accept 3D CAD formats such as STEP, IGES and STL. If you don’t have a ready-to-print file, our team can assist you in preparing or optimising the 3D model to ensure the most precise and efficient printing.

Which industries is your 3D printing used in?

Our 3D printing service is widely used in the industrial sector for creating functional prototypes and custom parts in industries such as automotive, biomedical, food processing and packaging. But that’s not all: many private customers also turn to us for personalised objects!

From technical components to creative ideas, 3D printing adapts to any requirement. Feel free to contact us to learn more.
