State-of-the-art technical department
The technical department at Meccanica Tecnica has sophisticated softwares able to create designs and cad models from scratch. Alternatively, we can import a large number of different formats such as IGES, DXF, STEP, STL and many other proprietary formats.
CAM, or “computer-aided manufacturing”, is used to program and guide the operations of robotic machines and generate tool paths to reproduce the CAD model.
The software we use is part of the Autodesk package, the world’s leading provider of 3D software for design, engineering and entertainment. Specifically, we use PowerShape and PowerMill programs.
Thanks to the latest technologies we are able to produce parts and industrial products according to the customer’s design.

The CAD/CAM software systems revolution
The CAD system was developed in the early 70s by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and with the advance of Internet, the simplification of computer use due to the spread of graphical user interfaces and the significant reduction in hardware costs has become a fundamental tool used by all professionals in the industry for the design and visualization of a product. It is currently heavily used in mechanical design and drafting.
The term CAD/CAM refers to the integrated use of software systems for the joint design and manufacturing of industrial products.
Software in detail
PowerShape
CAD software used for complex part development, electrode design, and manufacturing modeling. With PowerShape you can create complex 3D geometries ready for high-speed, multi-axis CNC machining.
PowerMill
Advanced 5-axis high-speed machining software for manufacturing. It is used on Windows for programming toolpaths for CNC milling machines.
Other software we use: Fusion 360, PacW, GrabCad and Preform
